Thenesh Kannaa is an Executive Director at TRATAX Sdn Bhd, a tax consulting firm based in Kuala Lumpur. He is in-charge of international tax and indirect tax service lines, with diverse clientele base and wide-ranging nature of tax consulting and tax policy works.

With the leadership of Thenesh, TRATAX has been recognised as one of the Top 11 in Malaysia for Transactional Taxation by International Tax Review, and within Top 7 in Malaysia for Indirect Taxation. TRATAX is also recognised as World Tax’s Recommended Firm in Malaysia. TRATAX is also the exclusive member of WTS Global in Malaysia.

Thenesh has authored three (3) books on taxation, two (2) chapter-in-books for IFA and IBFD respectively and various technical articles for newsletters and journals. Thenesh has been interviewed by mainstream television channels, radio channels and newspapers on contemporary tax matters.

As Chairman of CTIM’s Technical Committee on Direct Taxes, Thenesh represents the tax fraternity in dialogues with the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia (IRBM) and Ministry of Finance (MoF) on various tax policy and technical matters. He is also an exco member of IFA’s Malaysia branch, a member of ACCA’s expert panel on taxation and ESG task force. He has also served as the Asia Pacific co-chair of WTS Global Service Line for International Tax and Permanent Establishments.
