As special advisor at TRATAX since 2020, participated in various knowledge development and technical works pertaining to SST, GST (post repeal matters), excise duty and import duty matters.
Prior to that, he had a distinguished career in Royal Malaysian Customs Department (RMCD) spanning 35 years. He as the Director General of Customs & Excise.
He has also served as the Chairman MOF’s special Committee on Customs Oversight.
His service in RMCD encompassed various roles in Sales Tax, Service Tax, Excise, Import, Valuation, Post Clearance Audit, Enforcement and GST.
Chairman of ASEAN’s Customs 2018-2019 session.
Chairman of ASEAN’s Customs Enforcement and Compliance Committee from 2011 to 2013
Presented numerous papers at an international level on topics such as Customs Enforcement on contraband smuggling, Customs Valuation, Excise taxation policies, Anti Money Laundering enforcement, Commercial Fraud and GST Fraud.
Served as a member of the Expert of Western Pacific Region on the Protocol to Eliminate Illicit Trade in Tobacco Products (FCTC-WHO)
He established the ‘ASEAN’ level information sharing network for Customs Enforcement
